What is the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)?

When is it:

• October 15 through December 7 annually

What is it:

• An open enrollment period where you can make changes to your Medicare Benefits

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan:

• You can join, drop, or switch to another Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan

If you are enrolled in Original Medicare (with or without a stand alone Part D drug plan):

• Switch from Original Medicare TO a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan (and add or drop drug coverage)
• Join a stand alone Part D drug plan if you are in Original Medicare (and don’t have one)
• Switch from one Part D drug plan to another if you are in Original Medicare

When do the changes you make during AEP begin?

• January 1 of the next year (January 1, 2024)
